The sounds of the library are classified into 3 types :
LOCATIONS
97 files – Field recordings of various winds in unique and distinctive environments such as deserts, moors, forests…
TEXTURES
262 files – Foley recordings of different materials moving, shaking, flapping, rattling, squeaking as if they were affected by the force of wind (leaves, sand, cloth, metal, wood, rustic interiors…)
ELEMENTS
100 files – The wind thought of and broken down as a kind of material itself. This category combines pristine recordings of real winds, each with very specific elements as their defining characteristic (whistling winds, isolated gusts, steady rumbles, fast buffeting gales…), foley recordings that aim to emulate these same elements (broadband granular textures, air swishes, whistling ropes, air resonating through narrow tubes…), and designed sounds. The latter are not intended to be fully fleshed-out designed assets but rather to act as building blocks, remaining organic and minimalistic.
Each category has its own interest and could make a library on their own, but they show their true strength when combined together.
Radium patches were also created to inspire users to push this modular approach even further — to really sculpt the wind and easily create dynamics and variations.
WINDSCAPES is not just about the sounds you get, but all the other sounds you’ll create through experimentation.
The library comes in two versions : one with LCR/stereo files and another exclusively in stereo – with identical content.
